HOUSTON: GLAM4GOOD GIVES NEW WARDROBES TO HUNDREDS OF FAMILIES WHO LOST EVERYTHING.

“I lost everything in the storm. We had six feet of water in our house. Everything is gone. I am so happy today; I got to shop for so many great things for my family and me. You are our angels.”

GLAM4GOOD mobilized the fashion industry and headed to Texas to hold a disaster relief initiative in Houston to restore the wardrobes and personal care essentials for hundreds of women and their families who have been affected by the devastation of Hurricane Harvey.

With fashion and beauty’s most recognized brands by their side, and with the generous support of Dee and Tommy Hilfiger, Macy’sMarchon Eyewear and Charming Charlie, this event empowered 500 women and their families.

“After losing everything, this is a new beginning and a new chapter in my life. You have made my day and made my year!”

With in-kind donations from some of the world’s most influential brands and retailers – including PVH, Macy’s, Charming Charlie, H&M, Calvin Klein, L’Oreal Paris, Aldo, Stila, Victoria’s Secret, Serge Normant, Hanes, J.Crew, Target, Stella & Dot, and Drew Barrymore’s Flower Beauty – GLAM4GOOD’s charitable efforts aided and assisted families devastated by Hurricane Harvey by providing new women’s and men’s workwear, sportswear, undergarments, accessories, eye care, beauty and hygiene essentials, as well as children’s clothing.

“It is amazing to be here to see my community and all the teachers being supported by GLAM4GOOD and so many fashion and beauty brands caring for us! It is such a blessing to have this opportunity to put the pieces back together, it’s a long road ahead, but GLAM4GOOD is making it a little easier.”

The recipients of this GLAM4GOOD emergency aid initiative were vetted by the Houston American Federation of Teachers and are educators and public servants who have experienced severe water damage or have experienced a total loss of personal property. These recipients, women ages 24 to 65, came from fifteen different school districts, representing Central Houston within an 80-mile radius around Houston.

“This GLAM4GOOD emergency relief event helped to replace the clothing, makeup and beauty essentials that our recipients lost in Hurricane Harvey and provided a dignified, compassionate and uplifting atmosphere that empowered educators from the Houston community as they prepare themselves and their families to go back to work and school,” said Mary Alice Stephenson, Founder of GLAM4GOOD. “We are honored and humbled by the generosity of our partners and donors who make it possible for us to host these critical relief events.”

Set up like a pop-up shop, this GLAM4GOOD #SHOPPINGSPREE4FREE gave recipients the ability to choose what is best suited for their needs in a safe, uplifting, family-friendly environment. The initiative helped to ease hardships for these families as well as provide support and encouragement as they continue to recover and prepare for the challenges ahead.

“We lost everything, and this event made my daughter and I feel like everything was going to be ok. Thank you GLAM4GOOD. This day has meant so much to us.”

GLAM4GOOD celebrity stylists and influencers Tai Beauchamp, model Jason Cameron, and volunteers, as well as local Charming Charlie employees led by Eric Samuel Green, and Macy’s MyStylist personal shoppers, were on hand to assist these special customers in selecting items that create stylish looks to impart confidence and replace items lost. Each of the #GLAM4GOOD recipients received a $100 Macy’s gift-card as well as makeover at the pop-up “Macy’s Beauty Bar.” The Great Toddini was on hand astonishing families with his live magic as they waited to shop!

“I have been cleaning out my apartment for the last nine days without help because of water damage and to be pampered at this event made me feel so special and cared for. I have greatly appreciated this day.”

VSP Global participated by bringing their “Eyes of Hope” Mobile Eye Care Clinic to provide free eye exams and prescription glasses on-site at no cost to those who lost or damaged their glasses. Recipients chose from popular designer frames donated by Marchon, while eye exams were provided by local, VSP network eye doctors, including many who were personally impacted by Hurricane Harvey. This important critical aid initiative was hosted by the Houston-based women’s fashion and accessories retailer, Charming Charlie, at their global headquarters.
